People have always been attracted to space. AND Avorion – one of the embodiments of human desires. This game doesn’t have much of a story or great graphics. Like many indie games, Avoiron is built on a specific idea for which the creators consciously sacrificed everything else. The backstory is this: several hundred years ago, a cataclysm almost destroyed the entire galaxy. Since then, no one has been able to break into the central regions of the galaxy. There are rumors of a strange race of aliens that have appeared in this most isolated center. And they know how to break through an unexplored barrier. But no one has yet established contact with them. There are also legends about the mysterious metal “Avorion”, which also appeared in the center of the galaxy. And the aliens clearly have something to do with this.

First of all, this is a sandbox. You start with a small ship and travel between different galaxies. At your discretion, you can engage in trade between different stations and create your own galactic trading empire – each ship can be given to AI control and given some simple task. You can hunt for various pirates, take on tasks to eliminate those objectionable to the law and receive a good reward. If you survive. Or you can become a pirate yourself. Rob merchant ships, raid stations, and so on. You can engage in peaceful mining. Crack apart asteroids and meteorites, extract valuable ore, process it and sell it, improve tools and search further for precious resources.

But what you will definitely do in any of these cases is to create a ship. And here the developers gave it their all. Avorion offers a very advanced ship designer where you start with just the basics of a ship. You create everything else yourself. You yourself place living quarters, energy cells, loopholes and points for turrets, missile launchers, oxygen generators, armor elements and solar panels. And each block has its own characteristics, depending on what material you use.

Your ship has a well-developed physical model. If you add extra armor plates, the weight and balance of the structure will change. The ship will take longer to accelerate and decelerate, which can be compensated for by additional engines. Which also weigh something and consume additional energy. You will have to think through the design of your ship yourself and create its appearance using a three-dimensional designer block by block. At first, such ships look unprepossessing and simple. But over time, you can create a whole fleet of small and nimble fighters at your discretion. Or, on the contrary, you can create a huge and invincible star cruiser.
