Battle Brothers offers its own incomparable atmosphere and unique concept, combining elements of a role-playing game and turn-based tactics in a medieval setting. The user creates his own squad of mercenaries and explores a huge world with many procedurally generated locations inhabited by hostile creatures. Before the start of the game, you draw up a contract – the key task of the match. It largely determines the structure of settlements in the first steps: they will be intact or plundered, rich or burned.
The developers couldn’t leave us without problems, so there are special events in the game:
- War of Three Houses;
- Invasion of the undead;
- Attack of goblins, orcs.
Each of your soldiers will have an experience bar that fills up due to participation in battles. You can spend the points you receive after leveling up to increase your stats or gain new skills. Since your entire squad consists of mercenaries, know that the battle of any character in the game may be the last. During the adventure, the gamer will meet many characters, and not everyone will be hostile: some will want to join the treasure hunters, and will have to make a decision: each fighter is different from the others, he has strengths and weaknesses. The strength of the gang depends only on the leader. Each hero can be improved by choosing appropriate perks and weapons that have unique effects. But it’s worth remembering: a dead warrior will not return, and if he does return, it will be as a representative of the undead, and certainly will not help his former comrades.
The gameplay is represented by moving around a map divided into hexes. If there is an enemy in the cell, the game switches to tactical mode, where the player participates in turn-based battles. The project received an unusual style and high-quality graphics, as well as more than 2 hours of soundtrack recorded by a symphony orchestra. The developers carefully approached each character, who will be displayed like pawns in chess. They added history, characters, injuries, illnesses, biography, learning speed and individual characteristics to the heroes. Those warriors who have increased health or survivability are more often located on the front line, those who deal great damage from a distance take a bow or crossbow, and stand in the back. There are no specific classes in the game. A huge number of weapons, armor and various items in the game are the global content of the entire Battle Brothers. You can create combinations for your characters to make them more resilient on the battlefield.
