The story tells of the confrontation between the United Nations Space Command and the religious alien alliance Covenant. In order not to lose the war, humanity decides to use the SPARTAN-II project, which makes it possible to create people with superpowers. The Spartan base is located on the planet Reach, which was attacked by enemy troops. Only the main character, Master Chief (aka Petty Officer John-117), manages to escape. He takes up arms and continues a bloody war with an alien race.
